Ingredients

1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
7 tablepoons butter
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1 cup pecans, chopped
3/4 cup pumpkin puree

Directions

  • 1 In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, pecans, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
  • 2 Add the cubed butter and use a fork to blend together.
  • 3 Combine the pumpkin puree, milk, and vanilla extract.
  • 4 Flour surface and form dough into a circle.
  • 5 Cut into 6 equal triangles.
  • 6 Place scones onto parchment paper on a baker’s sheet.
  • 7 Bake at 425ºF for 15 minutes.
  • 8 Meanwhile, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, butter, vanilla, and salt.
  • 9 Once cooled, drizzle glaze over scones.
  • 10 Top with chopped pecans.
